And now for the sculptures!
Top of the list is Muscovado. He is my first serious foray into charring wood and I'm excited! He is made more dramatic by the long swaves of pitted wood used for his mane and tail. All reinforced with marine grade stainless steel for longevity.
I have made four spectacular look water features for the exhibitions:"Airborne" the swan, "Pick-Up" the Eagle, "Puffin's Delight" and "success!" The Kingfisher. Each bird is mounted on its own stainless steel pedestal from which water drops to the subterranean bath to be recycled. The sculptures rely heavily on my enhanced stainless steel metal working skills to bring them alive. Take the Puffin's webbed foot for example, made in my workshop from scrap stainless steel. Two of the 3 webbed toes are conduits delivering water to the beak and the elevated back foot. Almost all the stainless steel used in the water features are reclaimed from salvaged ships.
My Sunflower Hare also makes use of the same skills - 5 stainless steel sunflowers, beaten from recycled sheet, sand blasted and finished in both patina and automotive lacquer, suspend a wonderfully weightless gliding hare.
Many other unforgettable characters await at my Christmas exhibitions! Please let me know if you would like me to send you a Catalogue of the complete line up.
I hope to see you at one of the exhibitions!
